Zawiera elementy strategii (przypomina trochę monopoly w innych realiach). polega to na przejmowaniu kontroli nad miastami i ich lokacji, czyli rozwoju. Gra oparta jest na wielu historycznych źródłach i przedstawia Małopolską z XIII wieku – z jej wydarzeniami, zdarzeniami naturalnymi, miejscowościami, postaciami historycznymi. Dodatkowo wzbogacona jest o „pomocnik historyczny” z wytłumaczeniem najtrudniejszych haseł i opisem miejscowości, które zostały umieszczone na planszy.
